Naturopathic Doctor
Throughout my life, naturopathic medicine has played a huge role in my health. From being a child with eczema, to a teenager getting diagnosed with PCOS, to dealing with chronic vaginal infections as an adult – naturopathic medicine transformed my view on healthcare.
Not only did each of these health concerns improve or resolve completely, more importantly it was my first experience where a health care provider took the time to understand me and my health in its entirety. I never felt dismissed. I felt empowered to learn more about my body and make long lasting changes for my health.
I knew early on I wanted to become a naturopathic doctor, so I completed my Honours degree in Health Sciences with a minor in Psychology, then obtained my Doctor of Naturopathic degree at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine. Having an interest in reproductive health from the start, I focused my research and learning opportunities on expanding my knowledge in this area – all things PCOS, periods, fertility, endometriosis, PMS, and everything in between. During my internship year, I was also selected to undergo additional training in reproductive health and fertility which continued driving my passions forward.
Over the years, I have noticed that there are huge gaps in our knowledge about reproductive and sexual health. Without this vital information, we are left with uncertainty about our bodies and poorer health outcomes. This is what led me to start researching, educating and informing people about their bodies, menstrual cycles, vaginal health, hormones, and sex – all of the things we should’ve learned but never did.
Too often, I hear of people being dismissed in their health journey when it comes to their reproductive health, especially anything that is deemed "sensitive" or "taboo". As a body-positive, sex-positive, shame-free practitioner, my hope is to help women and vulva owners to feel more empowered, to understand their body, and live more healthy and pleasure-filled lives.
In my practice, I take an evidence-based approach, integrating clinical experience and most importantly, patient goals and values. I prioritize targeted lab testing and in-depth history taking to ensure a root cause, individualized and comprehensive approach to treatment. To provide my patients with the best and most targeted care possible, my practice is dedicated to reproductive and hormonal health concerns.
