About Dr. Clarence
It wasn’t until my family was thrown into the world of cancer diagnoses and treatments that I found exactly where my passion for care was rooted.
Co-Founder, Naturopathic Doctor
Before I finished undergraduate studies I knew I would pursue naturopathic medicine, but it wasn’t until my family was thrown into the world of cancer diagnoses and treatments that I found exactly where my passion for care was rooted.
After completing a Bachelor of Kinesiology I moved to Toronto to pursue my Doctor of Naturopathy degree from the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine. As an intern, I was one of a select few chosen to work on the Adjunctive Cancer Care shift, where I had the opportunity to work exclusively with patients affected by cancer and shadow Oncologists practicing in Sunnybrook’s Breast Cancer Centre.
I am passionate about supporting patients who have been affected by cancer, whether they are in the midst of an active diagnosis, have a strong family history of cancer, or previously had cancer and want to ensure their ongoing care is mindful of this. Whether preparing to enter treatment, undergoing conventional care, or in recovery, I follow the best available evidence to formulate a safe care plan unique to each patient’s needs and goals.
While a significant part of my practice is reserved for patients who have been affected by cancer, I have a special interest in supporting people who are struggling with perimenopause / menopause, and hormone imbalance. I’ve cared for patients with arthritis, diabetes, eczema, lupus, cervical dysplasia, endometriosis, thyroid disease, persistent digestive problems (SIBO, IBS, constipation, etc), as well as active cancer and a history of cancer. I know how overwhelming it can be to to cope with complicated health challenges, which is why I pay attention to the emotional impact of their health journey, as well as their physical symptoms.
I continue to purse additional training in integrative oncology, hormones, and perimenopause / menopause to ensure my patients are receiving the best care possible. I am an active member of the Oncology Association of Naturopathic Physicians, the North American Menopause Society, and am also certified with the College of Naturopaths of Ontario to prescribe mistletoe therapy, bioidentical hormones, and thyroid hormone replacement.
I am a strong advocate for conventional care, recognizing that when possible, naturopathic medicine functions best alongside medical treatment. My door is open to anyone looking for a Naturopathic Doctor who will see beyond a diagnosis to develop a clear understanding of their needs and goals. I am driven by a desire to empower people with knowledge so they can confidently make positive changes in their health.
Dr. Hayhlee Clarence is licensed to practice in Ontario under the College of Naturopaths of Ontario and is an active member of the Ontario Association of Naturopathic Doctors (OAND), the Canadian Association of Naturopathic Doctors (CAND), and the Oncology Association of Naturopathic Doctors (OncANP).
